Hueytown Chiropractor Provides Relief For Those Suffering With Mid-Back Pain

By Christian Bordner

Pain can start in any part of the back and a number of things can cause it. It may be the result of something dramatic such as a car crash or sports injury. However, as leading chiropractors in Hueytown can attest, it can be something as seemingly harmless as poor posture as you sit in front of a computer at work.

Pain in the mid back is often caused by continual desk work, especially if the office worker has poor posture while seated. Along with the mid-back pain there may be tension in the neck and shoulders. Along with an accidental injury to the back, there may be a misplacement of one or more vertebrae, which are the small bones that comprise the spinal column.

Chiropractors can help to reduce the pain to a tolerable level regardless of what caused it. The first step is to make an appointment. An evaluation must be done before a care plan can be suggested. The first appointment will be spent completing this assessment.

You will be asked how severe the pain is and how long you have been suffering. There will be a physical exam of the entire spine. Some tests such as range-of-motion may be administered. In some instances an x-ray is used to provide valuable insight.

The results will allow your chiropractor to plan a course of action for your care. It may include manual adjustments and massage. The goal is, of course, to lessen the hurting that makes it impossible for you to work or enjoy any other activities.

When a misalignment of the spine exists, manual adjustments are administered to coax the vertebrae back into the correct position. The pain may be caused by one or more of these nerves being impacted. As the pressure against these nerves is reduced, so is the pain.

These adjustments will be administered in a series of scheduled office visits. Improvement might be noted a little sooner for some people. It depends on your general health, age and severity of the injury. As the pain is alleviated, you may be able to return to work and recreational activities previously enjoyed.
