Practical Instructions to Patients

Homeopathic medicines must be handled carefully. Keep them out of the sun. Don’t touch the granules, pellets or tablets (the medicines come in different shapes and sizes). Tap them from the cap of the bottle or the plastic tube directly into your mouth. Allow them to dissolve; swallow. (Water is not necessary.) Medicines should be taken apart from meals – a few minutes before eating or 20 or 30 minutes after eating.
Although coffee – both caffeinated and decaffeinated – may or may not antidote your particular homeopathic remedy, it does cause antidoting in a number of people. Play the percentages and stay off it. (If you simply cannot give up coffee, tell your homeopath and he’ll find a way to work with you.) Tea, even caffeinated, is okay.
- Alcohol in moderation is fine. Marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens and other psychoactive drugs should be avoided.
- Sometimes the anesthetics used in dentistry (e.g., lidocaine) can antidote. Don’t cancel your dental appointment, just keep your homeopath informed.
- Most homeopaths feel it is best to do one energy medicine at a time. Choose either acupuncture or homeopathy, but don’t do both at the same time.
- Osteopathic and chiropractic manipulations, as well as massage, are fine.
- Please do not take any other homeopathic medicines during treatment as they could disrupt your progress. Let your homeopath be your homeopath.
